Mohammed Shami turns 35: A look at his best moments in cricket

Mohammed Shami is one of India’s top fast players in every format. He has helped the team win many games in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Shami turned 35  years old on Wednesday . For years, he has given great performances. He is one of the main players for the Men in Blue in the ODI World Cup.

Since he started playing in 2013 at Eden Gardens, where he took nine wickets, Shami has become known for his fast bowling. He is good at bowling yorkers that hit the toes and does well in big games. He has built his name with these skills over time.

Even when he has not been fully fit, he has given India important match-winning performances in big ICC tournaments, especially in the 50-over World Cup. This has helped him get a big group of fans. He and Jasprit Bumrah are now seen as one of the best fast-bowling pairs in cricket today.

With 448 international wickets in 188 matches (229 in Tests, 195 in ODIs, and 24 in T20Is), Shami has proven to be one of the best fast bowlers of this era.

Five-wicket haul on Test debut

Shami is one of only nine Indian players to get five wickets in his first match. He is the third Indian fast player to do this. This is a big moment in Indian cricket.

India’s go-to bowler in the ODI World Cup

He was not always India’s top pick for World Cups, but Shami came through for the team every time they needed it. He got 55 wickets from 18 games. This makes him their best wicket-taker in the tournament, and puts him at number five on the all-time list for World Cup matches.

IPL (Indian Premier League) achievements

Shami has represented Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans in the IPL. His record is highly impressive: 127 wickets in 110 matches.

In 2023, he won the Purple Cap for being the highest wicket-taker of the season, claiming 28 wickets in 17 games at an average of 18.64, with a best of 4/11.

One of his most memorable IPL moments came in 2020, when he defended six runs in a Super Over for Punjab Kings against Mumbai Indians.

He was also part of the Gujarat Titans squad that lifted the IPL trophy in 2022.
